Less than $2 in stolen merchandise bought a local pair a major headache earlier this week.

On Monday LaFollette Police Officers John Baker, Daniel Terry, Pam Jarrett and Det. Jeff Allen responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Goodwill store located in Woodson’s Mall.

At the store a witness reported observing Katherine J. Dossett, 30, of 814 Hemlock Street, allegedly place a garment valued at $1.99 in her purse.

When Dossett attempted to leave the item was recovered from her belongings.

During the investigation officers determined that David Lee Davis, 53, of 158 North Marlow Lane, Duff, was inside the store with Dossett at the time of the theft.

A search of Davis revealed him to be in possession of an assortment of schedule III and legend drugs.

Dossett was arrested and charged with theft under $500. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 1.

Davis was also arrested and charged with possession of a schedule III controlled substance and possession of legend drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court for these charges on April 17.
