Gary Mitchell Bennett, 48, of Harriman, died May 29 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Gary Bennett.

Gary is survived by his mother, Mittie Bennett, of Fla.; wife, Della Bennett, of Harriman; sons, Jason Bennett and Alex Bennett, of Anderson County; daughters Crystal Myers and Fawn Johnson, of Anderson County.

Janet “Jan” Marie Biniker

Janet “Jan” Marie Biniker, 69, of Norris, died June 1 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, William and Doris Veil Pratt and daughter Vicki Farrell.

She is survived by sons, David Farrell, Todd Farrell, Bob Farrell, all of Ohio, Daniel Boyer, of Andersonville, and daughters Tammy Lynch and Cindi Pyles, of Andersonville.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Albert K. Bistrenko

Albert  K. Bistrenko, 79, of LaFollette, formerly of Mich., died June 2, after battling cancer. He was a U.S. Army and Korean War veteran. Albert was retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Edna Bistrenko; parents Kontrat and Elizabeth Bistrenko; and brother, Bob Ranta.

He is survived by his children, Brenda Foster and husband, Michael, of Knoxville, Julia Bogart and husband, George of Howell, of Mich., and Mark Bistrenko.; four grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held June 5 at New Life Ministries Church in Jacksboro with Pastor Alan Shepherd officiating.

Arnold “Arnie” Blankenship (w/pic)

Arnold “Arnie” Blankenship, 81, died May 30, at the Whitehouse Country Manor in Whitehouse, Ohio. He was born on May 27, 1931, to Ben and Alice Baird Blankenship in Toledo. Arnie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. For nearly 40 years, Arnie was a self-employed, over-the-road truck driver. He retired from United Trucking Service as an owner and operator after 28 years of service. He was a member of his local Teamsters Union. Arnie enjoyed many fishing trips to Lake Erie and traveling to Las Vegas and Tennessee, with his beloved wife of 51 years, Betty. He also had a green thumb for vegetable gardening.

In addition to his parents, Arnie was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on June 23, 2011; sister, Irene; and brother, Lloyd.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Blankenship, of Ottawa Lake, Mich. and Edwin Blankenship and wife Marikay, of Sylvania, Ohio; daughter, Cheri Mcleod and husband John, of Northfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Lauren and Evan Blankenship, and Ian, Kyle, and Kelly Mcleod; brothers, Ronald and Bill; and sister, Lorene.

The family received guests on June 3 at Newcomer Funeral Home with funeral services on June 4. Interment followed in Toledo Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the Whitehouse Country Manor for the care and support that they provided to Arnie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Arnie’s life to be honored with a toast, drink, and dinner in his memory.

Billy R. “Bill” Hicks

Billy R. “Bill” Hicks, died May 28, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.  Bill accepted the Lord several years ago, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Nannie Hicks. 

Bill worked for 37 years in the field of property assessment; 16 of those years serving as the Campbell County Property Assessor from 1992-2008. 

Bill was blessed in 2010 to be an organ donor recipient.  The Hicks family is grateful to the donor and their family who gave so unselfishly so they could have more time with Bill. They are also grateful to family members, friends, and neighbors, who phoned, visited, and assisted the family.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy Goins Hicks; daughter, Stephanie, whom he cherished and saw as the light of his life; brothers and sisters, Bobby Hicks and wife Brenda, of LaFollette, David Hicks and wife Diana, of Jacksboro, Joy Lee Smith and husband Jack, of LaFollette, Donna Morris and husband Vick, of LaFollette, Tammy Bostic and husband Lynn, of LaFollette; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held May 31 at Walters Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Jack Goins and the Rev. David Hicks officiating.  Interment was in Powell Valley Cemetery and Memorial Gardens. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Vanderbilt Hospitality House, 214 Reidhurst Avenue Nashville, TN 37203, who provide lodging to the families of those who are organ donor recipients

Darrel Hicks

Darrel Hicks, 65, of Newcomb passed away May 22, at his home.

He is survived by son, Tony Hicks, of LaFollette and daughter, Melissa Brown, of Knoxville.

Funeral services were held May 24. Interment was in Fox Cemetery.

Flora Henegar

Flora Henegar, 98, of LaFollette, died June 4. She was a member of Flat Hollow Methodist Church.

Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Henegar; parents, B. C. Bige and Martha Moore McCarty; brother, Jess McCarty; sister, Juanita Bailey.

She is survived by her son Mitchell Henegar and wife, Betty; grandchildren, Clifford Henegar and wife, Loretta, Debbie Long and husband, Audie, Sherrie Chapman, and husband Larry; great-grandchildren John Long, James Long, Andrew Long and wife, April, Shean, Travis and Kelsey Chapman, Jennifer and Dakota Henegar; great-great grandson Elijah Martin Long.

Funeral services were held June 5 at Cross Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Watts officiating.  Interment was in Flat Hollow Cemetery.

Buck Huskey

Buck Huskey, 61, of Jellico, died May 29, at Beech Tree Manor. He was born March 12, 1951, in Harlan, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his father Lonzo Huskey.

Buck is survived by his mother, Mable Huskey, of Jellico; the mother of his children, Jessie Huskey; sons James Huskey of Jellico, William Huskey and wife, Teresa, of LaFollette; grandchildren Jason Huskey and Jordan Huskey, of LaFollette; brothers Doyle Huskey, of Williamsburg, Ky., James “J.W.” Huskey, of Jellico, and Donald Huskey, of Grays, Ky.; sister, Joyce Huskey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family mourn his passing.

Funeral servicers were held June 1, at Harp Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Douglas officiating. Interment was in Rock Springs Cemetery in Gatliff, Ky.

Sarah Lee Kish

Sarah Lee Kish, 67, of LaFollette, died June 2, at Tennova Physicians Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Silas and Bessie Carroll Kennedy.

She is survived by her husband, John F. Kish, of LaFollette.

The family received friends, June 6. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., June 7 in the Martin Wilson Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Mary R. Rector,84, of Dayton, Ohio, died June 1.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolph and Dora Mack. 

Mary is survived by her husband of 14 years, Boyd Rector.

Retha Smith

Retha Smith, 60, of Jellico died May 25. She was born March 23, 1952, in Jellico. 

She is survived by her sons, Billy Ray Wood and wife, Margie, of McMinnville, and Tommy Ray Wood and wife, Mary, of Jellico; daughter Shawnya Smith of Jellico; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five sisters, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family mourn her passing.            

Funeral services were held May 27 at Harp Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Powers officiating. Retha’s wishes were to be cremated.

Stacey Widener Tindle

Stacey Widener Tindle, 41, of LaFollette, passed away June 1, after a long illness. She was of the Baptist faith.

Stacey was preceded in death by grandparents Babe and Effie Lee Ledford, Chalk and Naomi Widener; special aunt, Betty Ledford; and uncle, Harry Lee Brown.

She is survived by her mother, Linda Hinch, of LaFollette; father, Bill Widener and wife, Pat; sons, Billy Tindle and Tyler Widener, of LaFollette; sister, Tiffany Widener, of Jacksboro; brother, Brad Widener, of LaFollette; special aunt, Kathy Brown, nephew, Will Widener, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services were held June 4. Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery.
