Peggy Cannon

Peggy Cannon, 66, of Jacksboro, died May 12. She was a member of Woodlake Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by parents, Warren and Ola Mae Hatmaker Jordan.

She is survived by husband, Emory J. Cannon; stepdaughter, Wanda Justice and husband David; stepson, Jack Cannon and wife Vickie; grandchildren, Cassidy Stokes, Jessica McClendon, Brandon Justice and Christy Roach; brother, J.V. Jordan and wife Shelby; nephew and nieces, Anthony Jordan, Shannon Stonecipher, Ryan Anthony Stonecipher; aunts, Sue Sharp, Cleo Moneymaker.

Funeral services were held May 16, with the Rev. George Asbury officiating. Interment was in Jacksboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Campbell County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 122, Jacksboro, Tenn., 37757.

Everett Dewayne Day

Everett Dewayne Day, 51, of Newcomb, died May 10 at the Jellico Community Hospital. He was born April 27, 1961, in Scott County. Everett was a member of Newcomb Baptist Church. He worked very hard every year to grow a beautiful garden that anyone was welcome to.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Cade and Lullie Day, Windfield and Burtha Harness; parents, Sherman and Anna Mae Harness Day; brothers, Robert and Delbert Day; sister, Flora Mae Day.

He is survived by wife, Mary Ruth Day; sons, Roger D. Perry and wife Jessica Lay, William E. Jimmy Dople, 57, of Wooldridge, died May 7, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born November 21, 1954 in Jellico.

He is preceded in death by father, Frances Dople Sr.

He is survived by mother, Jessie Dople Hicks; sons, Fritz Dople, Josh Dople, Nicholas Dople; daughter, Natalie Dople; brother, Frances Dople Jr. and wife Charlotte; sisters, Evie Brewer and husband Freddie, Freda Thomas Johnson and husband Eddie, Wanda Lambdin and husband Lonnie, Joyce McGhee and husband Dennis, Faye Chambers and husband Pete, Shelia Irwin and husband Marshall; five grandchildren, Taylor, Maddie, Abbie, Kaylee and Gracie Dople; special cousin and friend Rodney Dople; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family to mourn his passing.

Carl Freeman “Rusty” Gibson, 59, of LaFollette, died May 5.

He was preceded in death by father, Carl Edward Gibson and mother, Mary Lois Dilbeck Gibson Murdock.

Rusty is survived by sisters, Pat Davis, of LaFollette, Audrey Ryan, of Va., Sandy Williams, of Mich., and Valerie Gibson, of Caryville; brother, Rocky Gibson, of LaFollette; family friend, Carl Mistele, of Spring Hill, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

It was Rusty’s wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Wanda E. Moser, age 85, of LaFollette, died May 14. 

She was a member of East LaFollette Baptist Church and retired from Prater Chevrolet. 

She was preceded in death by parents, Whit and Myrtle Craig Gibson; brother, Wayne “Toad” Gibson.

She is survived by husband, Joe Moser; brother, Charles Gibson.

Funeral services will be held May 17 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Johnny Dabney officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at noon. Helen Patrick Mounts

Helen Patrick Mounts, 78, of Speedwell died May 6, at Tennova Physicians Regional Medical Center. She was a great and active church member at Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved to bowl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Laura Patrick; brother, Johnny Patrick; and sister Shirley Cline.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis G. Mounts, of Speedwell; sons Dennis Frank Mounts, of Johnson City, Gregory C. Mounts, of St. Croix, Jeffery D. Mounts, of LaFollette, and Patrick Allen Mounts, of Speedwell; sister, Zella Thatcher, of Ohio; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 9 with the Rev. Don Proffitt officiating.  Interment was in Beeler Cemetery.

John W. Parker

John W. Parker, 88, of LaFollettedied May 12. He was a member of Mountain Assembly Church of God. He was a very loving husband of 66 years and brother. He loved his friends and relatives very much and he will be missed by them. He was awarded several medals for his service to his country during World War II and was honorably discharged from the Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Meda Chadwell Parker; wife, Lillie Parker; brothers, William Parker Jr., Junior Parker, Hobert Parker, Ken Parker, and Sam Parker; and sisters Pearlie Pruitt, Emma Baldwin, Retha Owens, and Leola Hicks.

He is survived by his sisters, Hazel Reese, of Dayton, Ohio; Zelma Young, of Ohio; and Rosie Williams and husband Harry, of LaFollette.

Funeral services were held May 15, in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Billy Paul and the Rev. Bill Gaylor officiating. Interment was in the Oddfellow Cemetery.

Gary Wayne Silcox, 60, of Jellico, died May 9, at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga. He was born May 29, 1951, in Jellico.

Gary was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Ruth Veach Silcox; brother, Danny Ray Silcox; son, Jerry Wayne Silcox.

He is survived by wife, Mildred “Coody” Rigney Silcox; sons, Gary “Quincy” Silcox and special friend Mary, Johnny Wayne Silcox; daughter, Michelle “Shelle” Bowman; granddaughter, Shelby; three brothers, Robert Paul Silcox, Larry Silcox and wife Dora, of Jellico, David Silcox and wife Liz, of Goshen, Ind.; five sisters, Judy K. Pruda Teague, 85, of Jellico, died May 13, at the Beech Tree Manor, after a long illness. She was born Feb. 14, 1927, in LaFollette, and was a member of the Crouches Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.G. Teague; son, Pfc. Steven C. Teague; parents, Walter and Elizabeth Jeanette Tompkins Garner; brothers, Charles Garner, Willie Graham, Ulysses Graham; sisters, Mayolla Jordan, Evelyn Siler and Jo Overton; sister-in-law, Grace Brown and several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by son, Robert Shann Teague and wife, Ann, of Jacksboro; granddaughter, Carrie Allison, of Jacksboro; along with several nieces and nephews.
