Cecil A. Archer, 84, of LaFollette, passed away Jan. 4 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. Cecil was a retired miner and member of New Freedom Community Church.
Cecil was preceded in death by son, Roger Archer; daughter, Pat Bolinger; first wife, Ellen Archer; parents, Ruben and Nancy Ford Archer.
Cecil is survived by wife, Martha Archer of LaFollette; daughter, Brenda Robbins and husband, Freddy of LaFollette; son, David Archer of LaFollette; step son, Timmy Carr of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 18 step great grandchildren; brothers, George Riggs and Shirley Riggs, both of Michigan; sister, Alma Daugherty of LaFollette; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the New Freedom Community Church with the Rev. Randall Heatherly and Rev. Jimmy Orick officiating. Interment will follow in the Peabody Cemetery.

Dan “Boonie” Baird, Jr., 70, of Duff, formerly of Newcomb passed away Dec. 26 at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1938.
Dan was preceded in death by father, Dan Baird, Sr.; mother, Opal Baird Creekmore; brother, Verldon Baird; sister, Emmialou Wright.
Dan is survived by his wife, Frankie Daugherty Baird of Duff; sons, Robert D. Baird of Florida, Jim Rogers, Jr. of LaFollette; daughter, Diana Lynne Boyer of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Flora Long of Elk Valley, Lois Lay of Cincinnati, OH and Brenda Brummett and husband, Joel of Jellico; grandchild, Thomas McCubbin; great grandchildren, Ethan and Destney; father and mother in law, Oliver “Buck” and Roberta Daugherty of LaFollette; brother in law, Carl Daughtery; sisters in law, Kathy Wood of Jacksboro and Molly Burlaw of Lexington, TN; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends and family to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at the LaFollette Church of God. Interment was in the Daugherty Cemetery.

Juanita H. Baird,
Juanita H. Baird, 93, of Jacksboro passed away Jan. 7 at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice in Knoxville. Juanita was a member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Bertha Ray Circle. She was also a faithful servant of the Republican Party having served for 28 years on the Tennessee Republican Executive Committee. Juanita was president of the Campbell County Republican Women for several terms and served one term as treasurer for District IV Tennessee Republican Women. She was also named Tennessee Republican Woman of the year in 1985. Juanita also served on St. Mary’s Medical Center Women’s Advisory Board and participated in other civic, political, and community events. She was an unquestionable politician who was charming to all she met.
She was preceded in death by parents, Elbert E. and Martha Massengill Hill; husband of 50 years, Lendon Baird; son, Winston Baird; brothers, Lester and Lan Hill and sisters, Lucy Loupe and Eileen Riggs.
Juanita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Jamie Baird of Jacksboro; grandchildren, Blake Baird and Keeling Baird, both of Nashville; everal special nieces, nephews and friends
The family will receive friends Jan. 10 from noon until 2 p.m. at Jacksboro First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held immediately after, at the church, with Rev. Bill Morris officiating. The family will then proceed to Jacksboro Cemetery for burial. Pallbearers are members of the Republican Party. Memorials may be made to Jacksboro First Baptist Church, P.O. Terry Frank Boyd, 52, of Lake City, passed away Jan. 2 at his residence. Terry was born January 22, 1956 in Lake City. He was of the Baptist faith. Terry loved boating, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by brother, Deeder Boyd; grandparents, Charles and Idabelle Word and Frank and Maggie Boyd.

Patricia Ann Daugherty, age 73, of Dayton, OH passed away Dec. 30 at her home. Patricia was born April 19, 1935 in Caryville the daughter of Fred and Mamie (Everett) Lowe. She was a member of the Ladies Group at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bleve Daugherty; brothers, Charles, Everett and Cecil Lowe.
Patricia is survived by her children, Pam Elkins, John Daugherty and Renee (Trever) McGhee-Holtrey, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Denise, Daniel, Matthew, Sarah, Travis, Trent, Heather, Trevor, and Chris; five great grandchildren; brother, Clay Lowe of Dayton; sisters, Willa Jean McDonald of Florida and Sarah Lowe of West Virginia.

Lori Melissa “Missy” Gillum
Lori Melissa “Missy” Gillum, 41, of Jacksboro, passed away Jan. 1 at the St. Mary’s Health and Rehab of Campbell County. Missy was a member of Vasper Baptist Church. She was involved in the first telethon cerebral palsy and sang in the choir at church. She was a member of ECP in WLAF telethon. Missy was the East Tennessee C.P. poster child for four straight years and was heavily involved in Christian parades. Missy was entertained by Knoxville celebrities Bill Williams, Ted Hall, and Clown Pat Berry and most of all she loved her church and was always playing Christian music. She was known by her special words “You love Missy”, “I love you”, “Come see Missy”, Pray for Missy”, and “I need your prayers”.
Missy was preceded in death by mother, Naomi Kitts Gillum; brother, Stephen R. Gillum.
Missy is survived by father, Howard Gillum Sr. of Jacksboro; brothers and sisters in law, Rev. James R. “Kenny” and Connie Joyce Gillum of Jacksboro, Rev. Howard T. “Tom” JR and Shirley A. Nomae Green, 91, of Caryville, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 5, while surrounded by her family. She was a member of Beech Fork Baptist Church for 76 years, a Charter Member of Caryville Easter Star #415 and a retired cook from Stoney Fork School.
Nomae was preceded in death by husband, James “Jim” Green; son, Luther Ray Green; grandson, Gregg McKamey; son-in-law, Sam Daugherty; parents, Mart and Rachel Wilson; sisters, Rhoda Green, Ethel (Sampsel) Byrge; brothers, Luther Wilson and Johnny Wilson.

Thomas J. Holman, 84, of Duff, passed away Jan. 4 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. Thomas was baptized in March 2008. Thomas was a loving and caring father. Thomas would do anything for anybody and was a hard worker. Thomas loved his family very much.
Thomas was preceded in death by wife of 60 years, Alma Holman; parents, Thomas and Minnie Chadwell Holman.

Harley Esco Pyle, 82, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Lake City, passed away Dec.30 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Harley was born June 14, 1926 in Anderson County to the late Kelley and Retta McAfee Pyle. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in 1944 at Camp Perry, Virginia, Company # 162A6. Harley retired from LTO Steelmill in Indiana after 39 years of service. Harley enjoyed fishing. Harley was preceded in death by his parent; son, Harold Gene Pyle; eight brothers and sisters.

Nola Adkins Roberts, 98, of Jellico, daughter of the late John F. Adkins and Eva Oaks Adkins passed away Jan. 3 at Beech Tree Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jellico.
In addition to parents Nola was preceded in death by husband, Elzy Roberts; brother, George Adkins; sisters, Flossie Prewitt, Iona Bowlin and Marie Rose.

Larry Spradlin, 48, of LaFollette, passed away suddenly on Jan. 4 at his residence. Larry was a happy go lucky person that could make anyone laugh. He loved his family and his pets, playing ping pong, fishing and spending time outdoors.
Larry was preceded in death by father, Edgar Spradlin; step brother, Joe Futrell.

Roy Roger Whited, 85, passed away Jan. 6 at St. Mary’s Heath and Rehab. Roy was saved as a young boy and attended Victory Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran, PFC BRTY A 869th FD ARTY BN 65th INF DIV WWII.
Roy was preceded in death by wife, Katie Whited; parents, John and Eula Whited; sisters, Adra Chapman, Roba Chapman, Christabell Young and Walsie Jeanette Wilson.

Juanita H. Baird, 93, of Jacksboro passed away Jan. 7 at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice in Knoxville. Juanita was a member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Bertha Ray Circle. She was also a faithful servant of the Republican Party having served for 28 years on the Tennessee Republican Executive Committee. Juanita was president of the Campbell County Republican Women for several terms and served one term as treasurer for District IV Tennessee Republican Women. She was also named Tennessee Republican Woman of the year in 1985. Juanita also served on St. Mary’s Medical Center Women’s Advisory Board and participated in other civic, political, and community events.She was an unquestionable politician who was charming to all she met.
She was preceded in death by parents, Elbert E. and Martha Massengill Hill; husband of 50 years, Lendon Baird; son, Winston Baird; brothers, Lester and Lan Hill and sisters, Lucy Loupe and Eileen Riggs.
Juanita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Jamie Baird of Jacksboro; grandchildren, Blake Baird and Keeling Baird, both of Nashville; everal special nieces, nephews and friends
The family will receive friends Jan. 10 from noonuntil 2 p.m. at Jacksboro First Baptist Church.Funeral services will be held immediately after, at the church, with Rev. Terry Frank Boyd, 52, of Lake City, passed away Jan. 2 at his residence. Terry was born January 22, 1956 in Lake City. He was of the Baptist faith. Terry loved boating, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Patricia Ann Daugherty, age 73, of Dayton, OH passed away Dec. 30 at her home. Patricia was born April 19, 1935 in Caryville the daughter of Fred and Mamie (Everett) Lowe. She was a member of the Ladies Group at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bleve Daugherty; brothers, Charles, Everett and Cecil Lowe.
Patricia is survived by her children, Pam Elkins, John Daugherty and Renee (Trever) McGhee-Holtrey, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Denise, Daniel, Matthew, Sarah, Travis, Trent, Heather, Trevor, and Chris; five great grandchildren; brother, Clay Lowe of Dayton; sisters, Willa Jean McDonald of Florida and Sarah Lowe of West Virginia.
Funeral services were held Jan. 3 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Melvin King and Pastor Perry Blue officiating. Interment was in the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lori Melissa “Missy” Gillum, 41, of Jacksboro, passed away Jan. 1 at the St. Mary’s Health and Rehab of Campbell County. Missy was a member of Vasper Baptist Church. She was involved in the first telethon cerebral palsy and sang in the choir at church. She was a member of ECP in WLAF telethon. Missy was the East Tennessee C.P. poster child for four straight years and was heavily involved in Christian parades. Missy was entertained by Knoxville celebrities Bill Williams, Ted Hall, and Clown Pat Berry and most of all she loved her church and was always playing Christian music. She was known by her special words “You love Missy”, “I love you”, “Come see Missy”, Pray for Missy”, and “I need your prayers”.
Missy was preceded in death by mother, Naomi Kitts Gillum; brother, Stephen R. Gillum.
Missy is survived by father, Howard Gillum Sr. of Jacksboro; brothers and sisters in law, Rev. James R. “Kenny” and Connie Joyce Gillum of Jacksboro, Rev. Howard T. “Tom” JR and Shirley A.
