“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near in the blood of Christ.” (See Ephesians 2:11-22).
In Ephesians, Paul addresses the relationship between grace and good works. We are “saved by grace”, but we are also saved for the purpose of doing “good works.” We should not confuse the two. Good works (even religion) are the result of salvation – not the cause. As someone said, “Don’t try to eat crackers and then whistle your way into heaven!”
