Owls, Eagles fall in Final Four of TMSAA East Sectionals

 The boy’s middle school basketball teams from LaFollette and Jacksboro made it to the East Tennessee Final Four last weekend before being eliminated.

LaFollette fell 63-46 to Johnson City Science Hill on Friday in the East Sectional semifinals of the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association Basketball Tournament at Sevierville. Roston Letner led all scorers with 18 points for the Owls. Austin North chipped in 9 points, followed by Dakota Dossett and Andrew Evans with 8 each, and Dallas Griffith 3. Science Hill snapped a 16-16 tie in the second quarter to take a 30-27 halftime lead. The Hilltoppers outscored the Owls 18-9 in the third quarter to break the game open.

Jacksboro’s boys lost 42-19 to unbeaten Cleveland. The Eagles (18-6 overall) hurt themselves by making just 2 of 14 foul shots.

Darin Gillenwater led the Eagles with 7 points, followed by Will Chambers 4 and Jesse Sharp 3.
