Owls have busy roundball schedule

In recent middle school basketball action, LaFollette’s varsity girls defeated Horace Maynard, 49-28, on Monday, Nov. 29. Kendra King scored 13 points for the Lady Owls, followed by Katie Hamblin and Amber Guy with 12 each, Sissy Bailey 5, Ashley Whited 3, Kasi Phillips and Isabella Luna 2 each. Megan Winstead had 11 points for HMMS.
The Lady Owls’ junior varsity team fell, 28-20. Phillips and Luna scored 6 points each, while Rachel Heatherly had 4, Megan Muggridge and Savannah Goins 2 each.
On Nov. 22, LaFollette’s varsity boys bounced Oneida, 58-26. Roston Letner scored 13 points for the Owls, followed by Austin North with 8; Ethan Jeffers 7; Jared Ruan and Duran Jackson 5 each; Dallas Griffith, Dakota Dossett and Andrew Evans 4 each; and Jacob and Caleb Ivey 2 each. On Nov. 18, LaFollette split with Oak Ridge-Robertsville. The Lady Owls won, 35-14, with Guy scoring 13 points, Bailey 6, Evans and Whited 4 each, Hamblin and King 3 each, and Luna 2.
The Owls fell, 41-28, to Robertsville’s boys. North had 14 points, followed by Letner and Jeffers 6 each, and Ruan 2.
On Nov. 16, the Lady Owls lost to Oneida in varsity and jayvee play. Oneida won the varsity game, 32-14. Hamblin had 4 points for LaFollette, while Evans had 3; Bailey, Guy and Whited 2 each; and King 1.
Oneida won the jayvee game, 18-16. Amber Finkenbine scored 6 points for the Lady Owls, while Kassie Kibler and Muggridge had 4 each, and Phillips 2.
