Owls run a strong second to Maryville at Webb meet

 LaFollette’s boys finished second to Maryville during an 8-team middle school track and field meet last week at Webb School of Knoxville.The Owls accumulated 90 points, which was 73 behind Maryville. Union Grove took 3rd place with 57 points, followed by Heritage, 4th with 46 points; North, 5th with 34 points; Oak Ridge-Robertsville, 6th with 32 points; Sacred Heart, 7th with 26 points; and Webb, 8th with 7 points.

Preston Provins (37-4 shot put) was the only 1st place winner for LaFollette. However, the Owls had three runner-up finishes: Tommy Lawson in the 400-meter dash, Dakota Dossett in high jump and the 4x400 relay (also Roston Letner, Isaiah Evans, Austin North). On the girls’ side of the meet, LaFollette posted a 6th place finish. Maryville took 1st place in the girls’ team standings, followed, in order of finish, by Webb, Heritage, Robertsville, North, LaFollette, Sacred Heart and Union Grove.The Lady Owls had no event winners, but were runners-up in two events: Rachel Nelson in high jump and Kendra King in discus.

Phillips wins race at AC

A 1st place finish by LaFollette’s Kasi Phillips in the 2-mile race at Anderson County was accidently omitted from last week’s article.
