Fall is in the air which can only mean one thing, the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce’s pig roast is just days away.
Next Thursday at 6 p.m. doors will open on the 15th annual event that was created to raise money for the operational needs of the local chamber.
According to E.L. Morton, chamber director, the evening will be filled with a variety of entertainment sure to please everyone.
Groups slated to perform at this year’s event include the Campbell County High School show choir as well as up and coming musical group Just Krossing.
“Just Krossing is becoming quite well know around the East Tennessee area. The perform an Americana type of music that everyone should enjoy,” Morton said.
While the entertainment may vary from year to year there are some traditions of the event that are a must each year. The auction is one such staple.
“We promise to have a very lively live auction as well as items for silent auction,” Morton said hinting that some of the items up for grabs are tickets to a Tennessee Titans game complete with air transportation and tickets to a University of Tennessee football game escorted by County Mayor William Baird.
While the agenda for the evening is fun the purpose of the event is a matter of business. One of only two annual fund raising efforts put on by the chamber, funds generated from the pig roast help the organization to establish a trade show presence and do the necessary travel to attract industrial and retail development to the area.
“Whatever fundraising we can do is a way to take some of the pressure of the chamber members to provide funding for operating expenses,” Morton explained. “The chamber is about networking and the pig roast is an excellent way to put the network into play for our chamber and its members.”
The evening will be topped off with a fireworks display provided by Pyro Shows.
“We encourage everyone to come and see what their chamber is all about,” Morton said.
The chamber pig roast will be held a The Stables located on Fincastle Road. Cost of tickets is $20 for adults and $10 for children.
