Police are looking for an escapee   By NANCY L. BRIGHT nancy@lafollettepress.com   A Campbell County man is being sought by the sheriff’s department after escaping from police custody. Detective Brandon Elkins of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department was investigating a burglary on Flat Hollow Road on Dec. 17 where several guns, a video game system and video games were allegedly stolen. During the investigation it was allegedly discovered that Adam Wayne Steakley and Elbert Harrison Steakley had taken the items and sold them to three different individuals. Two of the items were recovered from one individual, officials said. The next set of items recovered had been purchased for Christmas gifts by an individual who did not know the items were stolen and the final items were recovered from a third individual, according to police records After being arrested Adam Steakley confessed to the crime and said he knew where the remainder of the items were. Elkins then took Adam Steakley to the residence where the stolen items were stashed. At the home, Adam Steakley escaped from custody, Elkins said. Adam Wayne Steakley, 25, 601 Sudini Lane, LaFollette was arrested last week along with Elbert Harrison Steakley, 31, 1081 S Hwy 25W, LaFollette on aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000 charges. Adam Steakley is wanted for felony escape by the sheriff’s department; anyone with information on him is asked to contact contact Detective Brandon Elkins at 562-7446.
