The annual Lincoln- Reagan dinner is just around the corner.

This year’s gathering on April 22 will mark the 25th anniversary of the local Republican party’s yearly gathering.

On the agenda as guests at this year’s dinner is the Republican gubernatorial candidates and their congressional counterparts, according to Ann Ayers, president of the Campbell County Republican Women’s Club. Local office holders and candidates are also invited.

Last year’s attendance reached nearly 300. The hope is to reach that number or exceed it, Ayers said.

“This is a chance to celebrate the grassroots of the Republican party,” she said. “Also it is a chance for us to come together and voice the concerns for the welfare of our country.”

The Campbell County organized event first began during President Ronald Reagan’s time in office. Ayers said this event is believed to have been the first of its kind in the nation.

This year’s dinner will be held at the LaFollette Church of God beginning at 6:30 p.m. on April 22. Tickets are $25 per person. Ayers suggested purchasing them in advance because there will be a limited number for sale at the door. For more information contact Rae Mihal at 784-5297, (865) 617-2240 or at stinkincreek@yahoo.com
