Retired Lt. Col. Dunavon Eads Retired Lt. Col. Dunavon Eads, 77 passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 31. He was born June 26, 1931 in Laredo, TX to Aubrey Eads and Ethel Puster Eads Dibrell. Dunavon graduated from Texas A&M University in 1952. He retired from the US Army in 1972 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after serving one tour of duty in the Korean War and serving three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He served in Battery “B” Field Artillery and other various divisions – 101st Airborne Division and the Green Berets. He retired from the Social Security Administration as a Field Representative in 1993. Dunavon was preceded in death by parents; daughter Sheryl Eads; son Keith Eads. Dunavon is survived by wife, Gloria Lunsford of Jacksboro; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth “Lisa” and Mark Dixon of Benton, Arkansas; sons and daughter-in-laws, John Aubrey “Jack” and Agaytha Eads of Whitney, TX, Chris and Rita Haskins of St. Agatha, ME, Michael H. Eads of Lula, GA and James D. Eads of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law Tina Eads of Gurley, AL; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
