Michael Todd Sharp will spend the next 25 years behind bars after entering his guilty plea in Campbell County criminal court on Monday.
In March 2012, the LaFollette Police Department got a tip that Sharp, 35, was living at the Village Apartments. Police reportedly found him there with a minor and his then-girlfriend. The encounter was an automatic violation of the terms of the sexual offender registry because he was living at a home other than where he was registered.
On Monday, Sharp pleaded to four separate counts stemming from the following incidents:
•March 22,2012, Sharp attempted to sexually penetrate a child more than three years and less than 13 years of age.
•Between Feb. 2012 and March 2012, Sharp engaged in sexual contact with the same child.
•Between Feb. 2012 and March 2012, Sharp again engaged in sexual contact with the child.
•In 2012, he lived with minors, his victim and her brother.
The victim’s father was in court with LaFollette Police Detective Monty Miller, but did not wish to address Sharp or the court.
Sharp was sentenced to 25 years and won’t be eligible for release until he has served his entire sentence.
He was previously convicted in 2003 of sexual exploitation of a minor.
