LaFOLLETTE—The Shepherd’s Home will host its fourth Annual Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Shepherd’s Home is a Christ-centered residential recovery program for women struggling with addiction.
“To me, the banquet is a special event,” said Larry Tanis, president of the Shepherd’s Home board of directors.
Tanis described the banquet as a “celebration of the past year.”
It’s a time to show appreciation for people who give their time and money to the Shepherd’s Home, he said.
“There’s a host of people who contribute to the success of the Shepherd’s Home,” he said.
The banquet will be held at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church at 604 S Indiana Ave., in LaFollette.
Last year, about 180 attended the banquet. But this year Tanis hopes 200 people will come.
“It’s first-class dining,” Tanis said. “It’s going to be first-class entertainment. It’s a beautiful setting. We work hard at ending at 8.”
Those who attend will be able to enjoy herb-crusted pork tenderloin, chicken limone, a roasted vegetable medley with potatoes, bibb lettuce salad with radishes and cucumbers, rolls and turtle cheesecake for dessert.
There also will be special music by Amy Blankenship, Ann LeJeune, Ben Bennett and Peggy Sliger.
The banquet will also include testimonies from a graduate of the Shepherd’s Home and a resident nearing graduation.
Those interested in attending should call the Shepherd’s Home at 562-0030 by (Sept. 6).
While tickets are free, those who attend are encouraged to make donations because the annual banquet is one of four events that raise funds for the Shepherd’s Home.
“We’re asking members of the community to come in and help us decorate,” said Susan Sharp, administrative assistant for the Shepherd’s Home.
Those interested can call Sharp at 201-9515 and help decorate tables for the banquet on Monday and Tuesday evening.
