Shoplifting call leads to drug arrest in Jacksboro

A Clinton man was arrested for shoplifting a cell phone charger from a local store on Saturday.

Archie Powers, 40, of Clinton was charged with theft under $500 and possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Jacksboro Police report.

Jacksboro Police Officer Josh Carroll was dispatched to the Dollar General after an employee reported that Powers had shoplifted a cell phone charger, valued at $7, according to the police report.

Powers was found to have in his possession a small bag of white powder in his wallet believed to be a schedule II substance, according to Carroll. Upon completing an inventory of Power’s vehicle, there were several straws with white powder found in them, according to the police report. Powers court date was set for April 17.
