Spiritually Speaking

Spiritually Speaking   Pearl Harper   Honesty   Lord, I know I have failed you many times I know your patience outlives mine. You pick me up and heal my bruises, teaching me that strife…only confuses. Love alone should be my main goal. Helping to see the whole world is told. Jealousy and envy will win no souls, hatred or sin won’t touch those streets of gold. Can my life by tried by fire? Pleasing Christ should be my desire. If by pretending I deceive a few, God the righteous judge know I am untrue. Then who in the end have I deceived? I can’t tell others if I am in need. My only chance is to fully trust Him, fruit I won’t bear…if I choose to condemn. I wrote this letter poem years ago. I still believe the words. In my lifetime I have seen so many young lives wrecked or cut short because they tried to do things their way, with no help from God, or those who loved them. Yes, I have failed the Lord, but He has never failed me. I love Psalm 1:1-3 I think it is a very special blessing we should all strive to reach. “Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever doeth shall prosper.” That is pretty clear language. We are told in I Peter 2:12, to have our conversation honest, that our good works might be seen. Paul tells us in II Corinthians 13 “to examine ourselves and to do no evil and we should do that which is honest. David wrote in Psalm 15:12, “Lord who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy Holy Hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.” With all the blessings mentioned in the Bible the judgment on the ungodly is mentioned also. The last part of Psalms 1, verses 4-6 says “The ungodly are not so: but are like the Chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” All this lets me know, we can’t fool God if we aren’t honest. God Bless.
