Spiritually Speaking Pearl Harper God is our own security I know most of you have read this thought I am borrowing today, but I thought it was worth passing on. It is entitled “Don’t wait for the hearse to take you to church.” Because if you do- You will go regardless of the weather. You will go regardless of how your family feels. You will go regardless of the condition of your body. You will have beautiful flowers but you will not enjoy them. Regardless of how good the singing is you will not enjoy it. Regardless of what the minister may say you will not enjoy it. You will go to the altar but you will not pray. You may have a great need but no one will be able to help you. You will never be able to attend church again. There will be relatives and friends there but you will never worship with them. You will go regardless of how many hypocrites are there. You will go regardless of how much you are needed at home or on the job. The minister had rather help you now than try to console your loved ones if you die without God. So make it your choice to go to church while you have a choice. Very thought provoking. It is something we all will have to deal with at some point, some at a young age, some as they get older. Nothing can change it or reverse it. There is nothing we can do after we have departed this life. The condition of our soul when we draw our last breath will be how it is when we face judgment. Sound like a serious article or a serious thought? It is. Time, money, or prestige or what status we hold in life will not change anything. We must be prepared for dying. It seem that so many avoid or put off one of the most serious part of our existence. Staying in close contact with our creator. We are His creation, He loves us but he doesn’t intrude, He knocks and we have to open the door. The latch is on the inside. He longs to fellowship and commune with us. I put this following thought in birthday cards. I recently gave two of my children- - “I have come to the conclusion that if everyone is well. There is food on the table, a place to rest. Happiness and no confusion in the house. Then everything is right with God and man. Because He is the only security we need without Him all is not secure.” I know many do not want to take the time to listen to such serious thoughts especially about the hearse. But I feel compelled to tell you, if you haven’t ever thought on these matters, you might want to check it out. Our short lifespan on Earth is nothing compared to where we will spend eternity. God Bless.
