The Lord our God is one Lord
Wasn’t this past weekend beautiful?
Sixty degree plus weather and sunshine. One of my younger grandchildren brought a big smile when they remarked, “I sure am glad winter is over.” I didn’t have the heart to tell them that most likely it was not over.
I am more aware of God’s goodness and His blessings than ever before. I keep referring back to last winter when I had cancer. Notice I said, “when I had cancer.” Every day is more like a gift to me than I realized before. There is a song that says, “I’ve got something good to shout about.” I have and I do, frequently. Most often my shout is not so loud as it is an inward awareness of how my life was touched.
Something I became so aware of was how omnipotent God is; meaning He is almighty and has absolute power. There is no limit to His power, if there is we place it there.
He is omnipresent.
He is ever present. He can be all places at all times.
He is omniscient, He is all knowing. Wouldn’t that be an interesting revelation to a lot of people if they could comprehend it? It we talk one way and live another who are we fooling? Certainly not God, most of the time others can see, if not now, then eventually they find out.
At my lowest point, when I was very weak in body I realized my hope was in my complete dependency on God. I wasn’t frightened but I knew I needed strength I didn’t have. I received cards, letters, prayer cloths from friends and many churches. Thanks again for those.
I began to see and know in my mind, a clear picture of who God I, and what He is. He supersedes everything. He has infinite power and His presence is universal. In our everyday language there is no if’s, buts or maybes.
Something so powerful for all to know is what we read about God in the scriptures, in His own words to Cyrus. Isaiah 45:5-7; “I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God before me: I girded thee thou hast known me. That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord and there is none else.
I form the light and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.” KJV
In Mark 12:28 one of the scribes asked Jesus, which is the great commandment (29) and Jesus answered, The first of all the commandments is Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (30) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (These verses are also found in Deuteronomy 6:4-5)
(31) And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
What an overwhelming feeling to know our God and He is everywhere.
As I was studying I saw a word in the dictionary above omnipresent, the word was omit. I thought how sad that anyone would not know about God and His mercy. Our job is to share.
God Bless.
