Not willing that any should perish
Do you believe God can change a life that has never been taught about His mercy and his goodness? He did mine.
I did not have a rich Christian heritage to draw from as some people do. But I always knew there was a God. When I was a child it was a common thing to hear someone make a reference to or a statement about God. I might emphasize it was done reverently even if the person wasn’t a Christian.
Some of the things we hear now, with some making a mockery of God and His Son Jesus Christ, puts a fear in my heart for them. It seems more and more there is nothing sacred.
In my early teens I went to church for a period of time but I never made a commitment, I didn’t accept Christ into my heart and life. I do remember that many times I would feel that convicting spirit. I remember thinking, later I will… but, you know we don’t have that assurance of later.
I have shared the story before how a young minister came to my door witnessing. I didn’t pray at that time but, he reminded me that I should accept Christ and take my young son to church. I didn’t realize at that time what was happening in my life. The Holy Spirit dealt with me all week. I made up my mind I was going to church on Sunday and I would accept Christ. You know the terminology you heard often in that day? I got saved! What a wonderful feeling to accept Christ and know your sins are forgiven.
I remember having such a hunger to serve God, to read His word and attending church; I awoke with these words ringing in my ears, “Are you going to let them all be lost?”
No one had to explain these words to me. I was the only one attending church at that time. My mom, dead or my two sisters and two brothers were not ready to meet the Lord. If in my spirit, I acted like it was not that important to me, I could never help win them to Christ. Now the thought extends to my children and grandchildren. You might doubt that God could bring to your remembrance how important some things are. Consider this, would Satan put a thought like that in my mind?
We must show our light to lead others to Christ. Is our light bright or growing dim?
Jesus said to the multitudes, “ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” Matthew 5:14-16, KJV.
II Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that ang should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
We must be whole heartedly concerned for lost souls. Prayer is the key, heartfelt prayer.
