Things change God does not
My article is different today it is about many things. What a crazy world we live in!
The one thing that disturbs me more than anything is how many stories we read about people being killed, hurt or abused and the victim has less rights than the one who did them harm. Seems we are more and more getting lost in the “gray area”, no black or white anymore, or, should I say, no right or wrong.
Never did I think I would see the picture that some commercial’s paint. Such as a commercial that shows a young man calling his family telling them he is coming home from the military. They act jubilant, calling in friends and family for a party. The party centers around tubs and coolers filled with beer.
One commercial even said don’t worry about driving drunk, you can always call a cab, a friend or catch a bus. Never does it imply that you should not drink in the first place.
Another point of interest is how some of the grocery prices aren’t going up, but the quantity is getting smaller. Some we have noticed around our house, is the ice cream. We pay the same price but we get 48 ounces instead of the usual 64 ounces or three pints instead of four.
I keep the little candy bars that come eight in a pack, I believe it used to be 10. The size has shrunk so much they are almost lost in the wrappers. Same price of course. One peanut butter that used to be 18 ounces is now 16 ounces. Did you notice that sugar comes in four pound bags instead of five pounds now? Same price of course. What was the term we heard a few years ago? Dumbing down? Wonder what all that comprises? I think we are finding out.
Many years ago my brother-in-law started working in a large factory in Detroit. He was always a go-getter or a workaholic. He was so good, and so fast on the line he worked on, his co-workers advised him to slow down (he was making them look bad). He was for exceeding the quota.
There are many things happening in our world today that does indeed sound crazy. So many things don’t have logic or sound reasoning.
Every day I live I am so thankful I know the one who never changes. James 1:17 states, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of light, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
The heavenly bodies change, the seasons change, the sun dial changes, but God never changes. Contrary to what many say, God’s word does not change to fit any era or period of time. From generation to generation, He is the same.
I like to read David’s last song and words of praise in II Samuel 22, verse two and three, “And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer: The Lord is my rock: in him will I trust: he is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; and thou savest me from violence.”
The Lord may never have to deliver us from the enemies David had, be He can be our rock and carry or see us through many things to a safe place. I am so thankful God is faithful, he never changes.
