How Awesome the Birth of Christ

The message I am sharing today should always be told and to me it never grows old. It just becomes more precious to me every day, not just every year. Realizing the meaning of Christmas should be in out hearts always, the birth of the Savior of the world. Read all of Luke chapter 2.

As Mary and Joseph made their journey to Bethlehem to pay their taxes, while they were there the baby was born. Luke 2:7 and she brought forth her first born son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Some may not realize the word manger was something the animals ate out of. There was no room for the Christ child in the inn (motel) s he was born where animals were kept. He could have been born in a mansion but this wasn’t God’s plan. Verse 8-12 tells of the angelic announcement and there was in the same country shepherds abiding in the field keeping watch over their flock by night and, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them fear not, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you, ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Let us take a moment to think of that angelic announcement to the shepherds. Some might say to the lovely shepherds. Imagine an angel of the Lord came to them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them. A messenger from God told them of Christ birth. As one of my nephews would say how awesome is that? Then we read in verses 13-14 where the angelic host worshiped God and Jesus. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying glory to God in the highest and on earth peace good will toward men. The following verses tell hoe the shepherds hurried to see the Christ child and when they had seen it they made known abroad the  saying which was told them concerning the Christ Child. (verse 17)

Do we make known to everyone this wonderful story of hope as the shepherds did? It is just as real today. There is no peace in the world. Everywhere we look things are crumbling falling apart. Luke 21:25, tells us about distress of nations with perplexity, meaning confusion with no one having answers. Have you ever seen it so evident?  Yes, the worlds in trouble but I tell you on the authority in god’s Holy Word, you can have inward peace, that’s the reason the Christ child was born. You can’t continue if you are living the immoral lifestyle the world, the media, the movies are pushing, you must adhere to the word of God. The Ten Commandments would be a good place to start if you are breaking any of these. (Exodus 20:3-17) You might be saying what a strange Christmas message. I would be in error if I didn’t tell you how to gain this peace. Isaiah chapter 6 tells of Christ being born that his appetence will be as a light shining in darkness it was a prophecy. Verse 6 is so touching, “For unto us a child is born unto us a child is given, and government shall be upon his shoulder and Counselor, The Mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

These words stir me because they are so real. If you are reading this and do not know Christ what better time to invite him into your heart and life. There is no greater gift then to know this inner peace that God can give you and it is free, the price was paid over 2,000 years ago. If you never claim the gift what a loss.

Have a Merry Christmas. God Bless
