Toys for Tots 5K

The Toys for Tots of Campbell County will be hosting a 5K on Oct. 6 at 8:30 a.m. The race will start from Jacksboro Middle School and run through the Dog Creek subdivision. The race will end back at the school. Pre-registration will be $20, which will be open until Sept. 29 at First Volunteer Bank in Jacksboro or by mail to be received  by Sept. 29. Mail early registration to the attention of Laura Byrge at First Volunteer Bank, 301 Main Street, Jacksboro, TN 37757. Registration the day of the race will be $25. Special awards will be given to each age division, as well as the Special Team award for most participants, as schools, businesses, churches, and club organizations are encouraged to form teams. Jellico Senior Day

Jellico High School will host a football senior day on Oct. 12. The seven seniors on the Blue Devil squad will be honored in the game on Friday night. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

CHET Family Services Center 5K

The CHET Family Services Center Break Free 5K Run and Walk will be held Oct. 20. Consisting of a paved trail that will incorporate the wooded and lake loops, the course is both runner and walker friendly. No roads will be crossed. Cash prizes for first ($100.00), second ($50.00) and third ($25.00) will be given to the first contestants to cross the finish line. Award medallions will be given to the first, second and third place finishers in each of the 18 age divisions. Pre-registration is $25 or $30 the day of the race. D.A.R.E Golf Tournament

Sheriff Robbie K. Goins invites players to take part in the D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament and Fundraiser to educate children in school. The tournament is set to be on Wednesday, Oct. 24  at The Greens at Deerfield. With a 1 p.m. shotgun start, prizes will be given for the longest drive and closest to the hole. Campbell County Senior Day

Campbell County High School will host a football senior day on Oct. 26. The seniors on the Cougars squad will be honored in the game on Friday night. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Coon Hunting Tournament

A Coon Hunting Tournament will be held every Saturday night beginning Sept. 22 until Feb. 23, 2013. The tournament will run from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. For more information, contact 423-437-7651.

Young Sportsman Hunt

The TWRA Young Sportsman Hunt is set to be Oct. 27-28. Youth, ages 6-16 are the only year ages allowed to hunt on these days. Each young sportsman must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult, 21 years of age or older, who must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device and who must also comply with fluorescent orange regulations, as specified for legal hunters. Multiple youths may be accompanied by a single qualifying adult, as youths 10 years of age or older must meet Hunter Education requirements. Young sportsman hunters may only take one (1) deer during this two day period.

Turkey Shoot

The Briceville Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a turkey shoot every Saturday at 5 p.m. The location of the shoot is Bill Black Lane at Briceville Highway. Stock 12, 16, 20 gauge and .410 barrel are the only guns allowed. Shells will be provided. Concessions will be available, and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for every round. Squirrel Season Open

Tennessee’s hunting season for gray, fox and red squirrels opened Aug. 25. The season will continue through Feb. 29, 2013 with a bag limit of 10 squirrels per day. Archery Season

The fall deer-hunting season is set to begin. Archery season begins Saturday, Sept. 22 and will run until Oct. 26. Archery season does include crossbows. With a bag limit of four (4) antlerless deer (defined as deer with no antlers or antlers less than three inches long) may be taken during this time. Throughout the entire hunting season, which includes muzzleloader and rifle, a hunter may only take three (3) antlered deer. Only one (1) antlered deer may be taken in a single day.
