High School Soccer Interest Meeting

Campbell County High School is in hopes of having a soccer team next season. An interest meeting for students grade seventh through 11th will be held on Nov. 19 at the old West LaFollette Elementary School. This is just the first step, which is to show the county enough kids are interested in trying out for the team. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call Bryan Horton at 494-6569.


Jellico Basketball Opener

The Jellico High School basketball teams will begin their season on Nov. 13. Scott County High School will travel to Blue Devil country for Jellico’s home opener. On Nov. 16, they look to take on Grace Baptist Academy of the Chattanooga area. Grace Baptist was a 2012 state tournament team. Tipoff for both games are set for 6 p.m.


Campbell County Basketball Opener

The Campbell County High School basketball teams will look to begin their home schedule on Nov. 16. Sevier County will come to John R.W. Brown Gymnasium at 5:30 next Friday night. The Cougars and Lady Cougars both open their season on Nov. 13 in Lenoir City as they look to take on the Panthers. Both games are slated to tipoff at 6 p.m.


Muzzleloader and Archery Season

Muzzleloader season is set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 3 and run through Friday, Nov. 16. Archery may also be used during this time. The bag limit on deer during this season is four antlerless deer. A limit of three antlered deer (defined as deer with antlers longer than three inches) may be taken during the entire 2012-13 season. Only one antlered deer may be taken in a single day.


Coon Hunting Tournament

A Coon Hunting Tournament will be held every Saturday night beginning Sept. 22 until Feb. 23, 2013. The tournament will run from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. For more information, contact 437-7651.


Young Sportsman Hunt

The TWRA Young Sportsman Hunt is set to be Jan. 12-13. Youth, ages 6-16 are the only year ages allowed to hunt on these days. Each young sportsman must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult, 21 years of age or older, who must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device and who must also comply with fluorescent orange regulations, as specified for legal hunters. Multiple youths may be accompanied by a single qualifying adult, as youths 10 years of age or older must meet Hunter Education requirements. Young sportsman hunters may take two deer during this two day period.


Turkey Shoot

The Briceville Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a turkey shoot every Saturday at 5 p.m. The location of the shoot is Bill Black Lane at Briceville Highway. Stock 12, 16, 20 gauge and .410 barrel are the only guns allowed. Shells will be provided. Concessions will be available, and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for every round. Squirrel Season Open

Tennessee’s hunting season for gray, fox and red squirrels opened Aug. 25. The season will continue through Feb. 29, 2013 with a bag limit of 10 squirrels per day.
