April 25

Campbell County Tennis

The Campbell County High School tennis team will host Central High School on Thursday. The home match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

 

Jellico Middle School Baseball

The Jellico Middle School baseball team will travel to Whitley County, Ky. The teams will face off at 5 p.m.

 

Campbell County Baseball

The Campbell County High School baseball team will travel to Cumberland Gap for a non-District 3-AAA matchup. The varsity squad will begin at 6 p.m.

 

April 26

Campbell County Baseball

The Campbell County High School baseball team will travel to Union County. The junior varsity is set for 5 p.m., as the varsity squads will follow at 7 p.m.

 

Campbell County Track

The Campbell County High School track team will travel to Anderson County High School to participate in the Dale Legg Invitational. The meet is scheduled for 5 p.m.

 

Cross-town Softball Showdown

The Campbell County High School softball team will host the Lady Blue Devils of Jellico High School on Friday night. The varsity squads will begin at 5 p.m., as the junior varsity will follow.

 

Jellico High Baseball

The Jellico High School baseball team will travel to Pineville, Ky. for a non-district game. The varsity squads will begin at 5 p.m.

 

April 27

Campbell County Middle School Baseball

The Campbell County middle school baseball team will travel to Middlesboro, Ky. The border battle is scheduled for 2 p.m., as the junior varsity squads will play directly after.

 

Jellico Middle School Baseball

The Jellico Middle School baseball team will host Scott County on Saturday. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.

 

April 29

Campbell County Softball

The Campbell County High School softball team will host Cumberland Gap in their final game of the season. This will be senior night for the Lady Cougars, as they begin at 5 p.m. Junior varsity will follow directly after.

 

Jellico High Baseball

The Jellico High School baseball team will travel to Sunbright for a District 4-A game. The contest is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Jellico High School softball team will travel to Sunbright for a District 4-A matchup. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Campbell County High School baseball team will travel to Fulton to take on the Falcons. This non-District 3-AAA game is set for 5:30 p.m., as the junior varsity squads will follow.

The Jellico High School softball team will host Sunbright in another game on Tuesday. This rematch in District 4-A action is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Campbell County High School baseball team will host Cumberland Gap. The two teams will begin at 6 p.m. in the varsity-only contest.

TWRA accepting fishing comments

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) is soliciting comments for its 2014 fishing regulations. This is an opportunity for the public to share ideas and concerns about fishing regulations. Comments may be submitted by mail to: Fish Comments, TWRA, Fisheries Management Division, P.O. Box 40747, Nashville, Tenn. 37204 or emailed to TWRA.Comment@tn.gov. Include “Fish Comments” in the subject line of the email. Comments will be accepted through May 3.

Youth Football and Cheerleading Sign-ups

The Campbell County Youth Football and Cheerleading Association will be having sign-ups for the upcoming 2013 season. Sign-ups will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the new recreation center. Fees for football players are $55. The fee for cheerleaders is $60, and the child must be present in order to be fitted for a uniform. Anyone interested in coaching can also fill out an application during this time. 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

The Stanfield Church of God will be hosting a 3-on-3 men’s basketball tournament on Saturday, May 11. The tournament is set to begin at 9 a.m. Concessions will be served, and trophies will be provided for first, second and third places. For more information, contact Don England at 784-2645.

Spring Turkey Season

The spring turkey season began on March 30, and will run through May 12. Only one bearded turkey per day, with a season limit of four per person. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before legal sunrise until sunset.

June 12-July 24

Elk hunt applications being accepted

The application period for Tennessee’s 2013 elk hunt will be June 12 through July 24, which coincides with the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and WMA Youth quota application period. Anyone interested in both the elk and WMA permits will have to submit two applications, one for each. The state’s fifth elk hunt is scheduled for Oct. 21-25 at the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area. A youth drawing will be between the ages of 13 to 16 years of age. Applicants may apply at any TWRA license agent, TWRA regional office or online at www.tnelkhunt.org. The deadline will end at midnight (CDT) on July 24. Mailed applications will not be accepted.

 

June 17-22

Great Smoky Mountains Trout Adventure Camp

The third annual Great Smoky Mountains Trout Adventure Camp for middle school girls and boys will be held at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. It is designed to give kids an appreciation and understanding of the importance of our aquatic resources with an emphasis on conservation, protection and restoration of coldwater ecosystems. They experience fly tying, fly fishing and snorkeling in the Little River, along with some hiking and swimming. Boys and girls ages 12 to 15 old are eligible to apply, and 14 participants will be accepted. Tuition is $472. For more information, see www.tntroutadventure.org.
