CARYVILLE—Negotiators from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office thwarted a man’s plans to jump to his death from the Interstate 75 overpass at the 134 exit.
Police scrambled to close the interstate around 10 a.m. on Jan. 12 after callers notified them that a man was straddling the overpass wall.
The interstate was closed in both directions for close to an hour as police worked to assist the man. Eventually, officers were able to pull him to safety and transport him to Tennova’s LaFollette Medical Center for evaluation.
The man could be charged with disorderly conduct at a later date.
