CARYVILLE—A 16-year-old driver was taken to Tennova Medical Center in LaFollette after a train clipped his car.
On April 29, the teen was pulling into the driveway at 1471 Highway 16 in Caryville. The driveway crosses the Norfolk Southern railroad and is marked with stop signs.
According to the report, the teen ran the stop sign and his back bumper was clipped by an oncoming train. The impact caused the teen’s vehicle to spin around and come to rest on the east side of the tracks.
Responding Campbell County Sheriff’s Sgt. Darrell Mongar, cited failure to yield the right of way, failure to obey traffic commands and operator inexperience as factors in the crash.
