An alleged attempt to collect a debt led to attempted second-degree murder charges.

On Tuesday afternoon Bobby Carl Hamblin, 53, of 214 Sawmill Circle, allegedly went to Tracy’s Tires on Old Jackboro Highway in an attempt to collect money from the business’ owner Tracy Hill.

According to LaFollette Police Det. Lt. Jeff Allen, when Hamblin was unsuccessful at getting the money he allegedly pulled a knife stabbing Hill twice in the left side of his chest and once in the right side of his chest. Hamblin also allegedly cut Hill on the left arm.

Hill was transported to St. Mary’s emergency room where he was treated and released.

Allen said Hamblin was arrested at the police station when he came there to file a report on the incident.

“After a lengthy interview I charged him with attempted second-degree murder,” Allen said.

In addition to the attempted murder charge Hamblin was also charged with aggravated assault and burglary.
