LAFOLLETTE—During Monday’s workshop, Public Works Director Jim Mullens proposed that City Council approve a request for traffic lights and striping at the intersection of Towe String Road and Jacksboro Pike.
The plan is to mark both left-hand lanes exiting Towe String road as left-turn lanes in order to improve traffic flow. The middle lane would allow drivers to either turn left onto Jacksboro Pike or continue straight through to Independence Lane.
Total cost of the project is estimated to be $7,200. City council is scheduled to vote on the proposal at next Tuesday’s meeting.
Also during the workshop, city council discussed several options about insurance for city employees. Projected cost for 2014 is $133,000. To get a cheaper rate overall, city council could possibly give employees a chance to buy-up in order for doctors or medical facilities not covered by the plan. City council will poll employees and department heads to see how many would actually choose to buy-up.
