BlueCross Spring Fling
Smith, who is making her first trip to the state track competition, will be competing against 15 other girls in the discus throw.
She is currently ranked eighth, according to throws during the sectional meets, as she threw a personal record, 108 feet, 5 inches.
Smith is one of only five sophomores competing in the Class AAA discus throw.
Provins is no stranger to the state championship.
The junior from Cumberland Gap will be participating in both the discus and the shot put.
This season is Provins’ third trip to the shot put ring at the Spring Fling, as he won the state championship last season with a throw of 55-3.5.
Last year was his first trip in the discus, as he took home both crowns, tossing a 154-1.
He comes into the 2013 BlueCross Spring Fling as a lead runner, tossing the highest in both shot and disc during the Sectionals.
