A slow depletion of funds from a local construction company led supervisors to question bookkeeper Tracey Lynn Tackett-Wilson, 23, of LaFollette.
According to Campbell County Sheriff Gary Perkins, the supervisors of the construction company brought the case to the sheriff’s department seeking action.
Detective Brandon Elkins investigated the missing money from the business account.
Over $31,000 worth of the company money was determined missing from the account, said Perkins.
“We learned through the investigation that her being the company book keeper she would be able to deceive the company out of the money,” said Perkins.
During the investigation, Elkins learned $17,500 was charged to a company credit card.
Perkins said the money gained through the credit card fraud was an attempt to pay back the money taken from the business account.
Wilson was charged with forgery, theft of property under $500, theft of property $500 to $999, theft of property $1,000 to $9,999, theft of property $10,000 to $59,999 and fraudulent use of a credit card.
She was arrested for the forgery and theft on Feb. 2. She was released from the county jail with a bond of $25,000.
