They say once you leave home that you can never come back again.
I’m a journalist so my first question is who in the heck is ‘they’ and what do ‘they’ know about it anyway? That being said, I am leaving home. But someday, I plan on coming back. My family and my friends are here. And after working as a reporter for the LaFollette Press for two-plus years, I’ve realized I will be leaving more family and friends behind than I ever knew I had.
That being said, I want to thank everyone for supporting me in my career as a journalist. I want to thank all the people that I have interviewed over the years. I want to thank all the municipalities, the mayors, aldermen and councilmembers that I have felt privileged to know as well as all of the citizens, who if not for them, my writing would go unread. But most of all, I want to thank my newspaper family for all the encouragement and life lessons that I was taught.
It has been a great experience all the way around and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to write for my hometown newspaper.
