The second young sportsman hunt will be held between Jan. 11-12. Only youths ages 6-16 are allowed to hunt on those days. Each young sportsman must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult, 21 years of age or older, who must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device and who must also comply with the fluorescent orange regulations as specified for legal hunters. A single qualifying adult may accompany multiple youths. Youths 10 years of age or older must meet Hunter Education requirements. Only one deer may be taken during youth hunts. The deer may be an antlerless deer. An antlered deer may be taken, but the deer will count toward the hunter’s annual limit of three. An antlered deer is any deer with antlers over 3 inches long. Any deer with antlers less than 3 inches long are deemed antlerless deer.
