Campbell County Preacher’s monthly fellowship for February will be hosted by Grace Missionary Baptist Church on Feb. 6. The service will start at 7 p.m. Sisters of Grace Missionary Baptist Church will provide the meal. Everyone is invited.

Jacksboro United Methodist Church will host a blood drive on Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will also be a spaghetti dinner. The cost is half price if blood is donated.

Steve Collett will be speaking at the White Oak Church of God Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.

  • The fruit of the Spirit – Part 1

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh”(See Galatians5:16-26, RSV).

  • Would you want someone to withhold such a kindness from you?

“He who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty” (Job 6:14).

I am always wary of those double left turns at intersections. The driver in one lane does not always remember that another lane is turning also. The potential for a sideswipe is great.

  • Choose To Drink From The Fountain of “Living Water”

Jesus answered and said unto her, “whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again; but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life” John 4:13-14.

In talking with the woman at the well, Jesus spoke of life-giving water. The water of the world can never satisfy the void in the heart of any lost person.

  • Through Christ we have confidence and assurance

Last week I wrote about how we had better have a battle plan to compete and come our victorious in this life. Yes, we have to strive against a huge enemy that would try and defeat us from reaching our goal. Never underestimate him. I want to repeat 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.”

I have written many times, I don’t believe he can read our mind.

Fincastle United Methodist Church will have a free supper on Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.

Fordtown Baptist Church will begin having Sunday evening service at 4 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

for the winter months due to daylight saving time. This began Nov. 27.

Campbell County Christians United for Change prayer services will be held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the West LaFollette Community Center cafeteria. All Campbell County pastors and congregations are encouraged to attend.

  • Jesus calls us to forgive

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?” (See Matthew 18:21-22, RSV).

Do you remember the game we played as children – “Rock, Scissors, Paper?” You might recall, “rock beats scissors, scissors cut paper, and paper covers rock”. All three might be dangerous weapons! Have you ever been smashed in the face with a rock? Cut or punctured by scissors? Received a paper cut?

  • When you’re fearful or struggling-get back on course

“So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (I Kings 19:13).

As we read about the life of Elijah in I Kings, we read about many miracles of God that came through his service as he went and did according to the word of the Lord.

  • He thrived on helping to develop the next generation

“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”(2 Corinthians 2:2).

  • We need to have a battle plan

Our enemy would want us to believe that if we have problems, or things aren’t going well in our lives at the time, the God does not hear us.

That is a lie from the devil, Satan, our enemy or whatever you choose to call him. He is real and very active, especially when he sees our doubt.
