  •  Last week I wrote about how we had better have a battle plan to compete and come our victorious in this life. Yes, we have to strive against a huge enemy that would try and defeat us from reaching our goal. Never underestimate him. I want to repeat 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.”

I have written many times, I don’t believe he can read our mind.

  •  Fincastle United Methodist Church will have a free supper on Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.

Fordtown Baptist Church will begin having Sunday evening service at 4 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

for the winter months due to daylight saving time. This began Nov. 27.

Campbell County Christians United for Change prayer services will be held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the West LaFollette Community Center cafeteria. All Campbell County pastors and congregations are encouraged to attend.

  •  “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?” (See Matthew 18:21-22, RSV).

Do you remember the game we played as children – “Rock, Scissors, Paper?” You might recall, “rock beats scissors, scissors cut paper, and paper covers rock”. All three might be dangerous weapons! Have you ever been smashed in the face with a rock? Cut or punctured by scissors? Received a paper cut?

  • “So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (I Kings 19:13).

As we read about the life of Elijah in I Kings, we read about many miracles of God that came through his service as he went and did according to the word of the Lord.

  •    “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”(2 Corinthians 2:2).

  • Our enemy would want us to believe that if we have problems, or things aren’t going well in our lives at the time, the God does not hear us.

That is a lie from the devil, Satan, our enemy or whatever you choose to call him. He is real and very active, especially when he sees our doubt.
