    Allen Joe Ward

    Allen Joe Ward, 40, of Lake City, died March 17.

    Preceded in death by father, Glenn Ray Ward.

    Allen is survived by mother, Edith Ward of LaFollette; daughter, Kayla Hope Ward of Maryville.

    Graveside services were held March 21 at the Cumberland View Cemetery.

    Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  • Charles Donald “Don” McGhee

    Charles Donald “Don” McGhee

    Charles Donald “Don” McGhee, 66, of Pioneer (Elk Valley passed away March 18 at Mercy Medical Center, St. Mary’s, Knoxville.  He grew up in the Twin Cove Area of Caryville and Dayton, Oh. Charles served his country with the U. S. Air Force and worked with NASA as a technician on the Apollo 6, 7, and 8 projects.  He also was a site engineer in Tin City, Alaska and retired from TVA Knoxville facilities maintenance.

    Joyce A. Powers, 44 of Pioneer, died March 15.

    Preceded in death by parents, Harold and Earlene Archer Bell.

    Joyce is survived by husband, James Powers; son, Derek Powers, both of Pioneer.

    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on March 21 in the Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Walls officiating. Interment was in the Broyles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before funeral services.

    Sidney Leland Stepp, of Clinton, died March 16.

    Preceded in death by parents, Marion Francis Miller Stepp and Wilford Shelton Stepp.

    Sidney is survived by wife, Debbie Stepp; son, Aaron Stepp, Nathaniel and Ryan Stepp.

    Funeral services were held March 19 at the St. Therese Catholic Church. Interment was in the Norris Memorial Gardens.

    Brandon Moses, 24, of Williamsburg, Ky died March 16.

    Brandon is survived by father, Joel Moses; mother, Angel Moses; sons, Eli and Eisen Moses.

    Funeral services were held March 19 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Rev. Bruce Carroll officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

    Preceded in death by parents, Newman and Pearl Holt Fox.

    Steve "Stevie" Edward Finch Sr.

    Steve "Stevie" Edward Finch Sr., 38 of Lake City died March 14.

    Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Ethel Braden Finch.

    Stevie is survived by wife, Crystal Tilley Finch of Lake City; children,Steve Finch Jr., Marsha Sheyenne Finch, Angel Irene Finch and Lavada Ann Finch.

    Mary Ellen Vinsant Allen

    Mary Ellen Vinsant Allen, 93 of Jacksboro passed from this life on March 12 at her home in Jacksboro. She was born Mary Ellen Vinsant on September 9, 1917. A graduate of Lincoln Memorial University where she received a degree in Education. She was a teacher in the Campbell County School system finishing her teaching career at Caryville Elementary in 1977.

    Shirley Aileen Baird Henry, 75, of Clinton died March 12. 

    Preceded in death by mother, Edith Baird Ayers and George “Smokey” Ayers; grandparents, Jim and Pearl Baird.

    Shirley is survived by daughters, Edie Dotson, Marilyn Henry, both of Clinton.

    Presley N. Lawson, 73 of Warren, Mi, formerly of the Grantsboro Community in LaFollette died March 14.

    Preceded in death by parents, Sampson and Katie Robinson Lawson.

    Presley is survived by wife, Dorothy Lawson; children, Mark Lawson, Tammy Low and Scott Lawson, all of Michigan. 

    Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. on March 18 in the Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on March 19 in the Murrayville Cemetery.
