    Geraldine “Jo” Evans

    Geraldine “Jo” Evans, 71 of Caryville passed away Dec. 5 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County.  She was of the Church of God Faith. 

    Preceded in death by infant daughter, Donna Jean Evans; parents, James C. and Helen Andrews Hendren; step-mother, Pernie Hendren; brothers, Jimmy, Robert, and David Hendren, and sister, Donna Jean Hendren.

    Joe Hembree

    Joe Hembree, 67 of Vasper, passed away Dec. 3 at his residence. He was born January 25, 1943 in Anderson County to the late Joe and Ethel Wilson Hembree. Joe enjoyed widdling, four wheeling, hunting, and sitting on the liar’s bench at Scottie’s Restaurant. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Alma (Ann) Hembree who passed away Oct. 9 of this year; brother, James Hembree and sisters, Betty Sue and Wanda Sue Hembree.

    Charles “Chalk” Wilson Huskey

    Charles “Chalk” Wilson Huskey, 63 of Caryville, died Dec. 4.

    Preceded in death by mother, Willie Thelma Huskey.

    Charles is survived by father, L.B. Huskey of Lake City; wife, Barbara Bailey Huskey of Caryville; sons, Darrell Huskey of Caryville, Michael Lloyd of Clinton; daughter, Barbara Dew of Clinton.

    Funeral services were held Dec. 6 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Floyd Bailey Jr. and Rev. Kris Bailey officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

    Donnie Lynn Anthony

    Donnie Lynn Anthony, 54, of London, KY died Nov. 27.

    Preceded in death by father, Luther Junior Anthony; mother, Geneva Rigney Anthony; wife, Kimberly Anthony.

    Donnie is survived by daughters, Patsy Lynn Manis of Jellico, Christian Anthony, Cheyenne Anthony, both of Kentucky.

    Funeral services were held Dec. 2 in the Harp Funeral Home. Interment was in the Perkins.

    Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

    Beulah M. Chadwell, 73, of Lima, OH died Nov. 30.

    Preceded in death by parents, Herbert and Dora Bell Strong Sinclair.

    Beulah is survived by husband, Ralph F. Chadwell of Lima, OH; son, Ralph F. Chadwell, Jr. of Sidney, OH, Richard Wayne Chadwell of Lima, OH; daughter, Wanda Lee Wells of Sidney, OH, Brenda Martinez     of IN.

    Funeral services were held Dec. 3 in the Lewis Eastridge Chapel Chiles-Laman Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Brock officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

    William Jay Compare, 52 of LaFollette died Dec. 3.

    William is survived by wife, Diane Compare of LaFollette; father, Walter Compare of Island Park, NY; mother, Jeanette Compare of Loudon.

    A wake was held on Dec. 6 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. James Dunn officiating.

    Gladys Gertrude Moser,64 of Lake City, died Dec. 1.

    Preceded in death by parents, Fisher Bunch and Laura Daugherty; husband, Oscar Lee Moser Sr.; daughter, Gina Renee Huton and baby Roxanne.

    Gladys is survived by son, Fisher Lee Moser of Lake City; daughters, Arletta Wilkerson of LaFollette.

    Funeral services were held Dec. 3 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Leach Cemetery.

    Violet (Babb) Martin Hatmaker

    Violet (Babb) Martin Hatmaker, 84, of Asheville, NC, formerly of Jacksboro, passed away Nov. 28 in Asheville. She was a member of First Baptist Church Jacksboro and worked at Holiday Inn in Caryville for many years.

    Preceded in death by husband, George Hatmaker; parents, N.M. and Grace Woods Martin; brothers, Rex and N.M. (Bud) Martin; sisters, Emma Love Brewer, Mable Peterman, Bertie Gross, Beulah Williams, Betty Martin; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hatmaker.

  • Martha Ruby Sharp Tackett

    Martha Ruby Sharp Tackett

    Martha Ruby Sharp Tackett, 85 has changed residence from 112 Cherry Bottom Road to First Avenue and Glory Land Way in Heaven, where she was greeted by family and friends and host, Jesus Christ on Nov. 28.  Martha was a member of the Beech Fork Baptist Church.  She was born September 25, 1925 in Briceville to the late David and Luzetta Tindell Sharp.  She enjoyed cooking, making jewelry, canning, going to the mountains with her husband and spending time with family and friends.

    Joel Verben Hodges

    Joel Verben Hodges, 70 of Speedwell passed away Nov. 26 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.  He was an employee of the Claiborne County Sherriff Dept. for the past five years and attended Braden’s Chapel Baptist Church.

    Preceded in death by parents, Verben and Viola Hodges.

    Joel is survived by wife, Linda Bean Hodges; daughter, Susan Hodges; mother in law, Jean Bean; sister in law, Mick and Ernie Clawson; nieces, Lisa Fields, Kyra Pierce, and Tiffany Medley; special cousins, Janet and Tommy.
