The LaFollette City Council is taking a chance to repair the Beech Street Bridge.
At a special called meeting last Thursday, the city council decided to spend around $45,000 to pursue a Tiger grant the city isn’t guaranteed to receive.
“A lot of people play the lottery,” council member Wayne Kitts said. “I can see us taking a chance. But I think it’s a good chance.”
The Tiger Grant comes from $500 million of federal stimulus money available for “shovel ready” projects in economically disadvantaged areas.
