  • Jacksboro man arrested on theft charges

    A Jacksboro man is facing theft charges after he allegedly broke into a vehicle parked at the Jacksboro Middle School.

    Brandon Cook, 21, of 110 Steep Lane, Jacksboro, was arrested on May 27 after he allegedly stole $114 from a parked vehicle, according to a Jacksboro Police report. Cook, along with an unknown male, was witnessed breaking into the vehicle and Cook was later identified after the police were called.

  • LaFollette man wins art contest;donates winnings to children's hospital

    East Tennessee Children’s Hospital received over $800 as a result of LaFollette native Bob R. Wilson winning an online art contest.

    Saatchi Online Art Gallery holds a contest each month, which is open to everyone. Each month’s winner receives 500 United Kingdom pounds donated to the children’s hospital of their choice anywhere in the world. This equals to around $826, according to the current money exchange rate.

  • TWRA makes drug arrest in Ivydell area

    Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Officer Greg Julian was on routine patrol in the Ivydell area when he came across four individuals that appeared to be up to no good.

    On May 30, Julian allegedly came across the four individuals sitting in a Ford Explorer in the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area, according to the TWRA offense report.

    A two-vehicle crash which occurred last Friday left one man injured and another man cited for lack of registration or insurance.

  • Ivey agrees to plea in rape case

    A Campbell County man accused of raping a teenage girl plead guilty to the crime in court on Tuesday.

    Tom Ivey agreed he was guilty of rape receiving an eight year probation sentence. His other two charges, another count of rape and one count of incest were dropped.

    Ivey must now register as a sex offender and abide by the conditions of the registry. He was further ordered not have contact with the young girl.

    Ivey is alleged to have raped a 15-year-old female relative  while she was a guest in his home.

     

  • Attorneys argue motions in murder trial

    While Michael Debusk conceded one of the motions he filed on behalf of Robert Arnett should not be pursued, he didn’t budge on two others in court Tuesday.

    Arnett, who is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of Billy Mardis, Jr., is currently out of jail on bail pending the June trial.

    Seated beside his attorney on Tuesday morning, Arnett remained silent as Debusk made his arguments.

  • Robinson agrees to plea to settle criminal case

    A one time Campbell County jail employee has plead guilty to multiple criminal charges.

    Tonya Robinson, a former jailer, plead guilty Tuesday to delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, official misconduct and theft under $500.

    While she was ordered by the court pay restitution in the amount of $240 along with fines totaling $2,575, the remainder of her punishment was delayed, according to the plea agreement form.

    Robinson will have the rest of consequences handed down on Sept. 8.
