A dispute between several young men was taken to the next level when the passenger of a vehicle fired his shotgun at an oncoming car last week.

Around 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 1, Joshua A. Humphrey, 18, of 405 Forks Groves Road in LaFollette, came to a stop in the eastbound lane of Old Highway 63.

The vehicle, a white 1997 Kia Sephia, was traveling on the road when it came to a complete stop in front of an approaching vehicle, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department warrant.

As a full council took its seats at the LaFollette meeting Tuesday night, Mayor Mike Stanfield had a request. He asked all department heads to come to the front of the room and introduce themselves.

After the department heads had stated their names and departments, Stanfield said, “Ladies and gentlemen these are your department heads.” The announcement was met with a round of applause.
