  • Business Incubator to host networking event

     Campbell County’s Small Business Incubator and County Mayor William Baird will host a networking event at Cove Lake Pavilion on Sept. 13.

    Many clients will showcase their businesses between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

  • ‘Payday’s Coming’

    All Campbell County could do was watch as the 47-yard field goal by JJ Jerman sailed through the uprights, putting the game out of reach.

    The only thing more painful was hearing the “Seymour Eagles!” chant as the buzzer sounded.

    Jerman made his presence known in the first game of the season in L. Hope Dossett Stadium. With kicks of 30, 42, and 47, he proved to be the difference maker. He also added two extra points to his credentials, as the Cougars fell 30-20.

    However, for the Cougars, they know their hard work is going to pay off soon.

  • Campbell Co. Government website now live

     Campbell County’s government website is now live.

    “It’s a work in progress,” said Billie Russell, from the county mayor’s office. “We will be adding information and features to it as we go along.”

  • Criminal court plea agreements Aug. 23, 2012

     The following cases were resolved on Monday with use of plea agreements:

    Donna Bowman- obtaining a controlled substance by fraud; two years supervised probation, court costs.

    David Ray Hembree- promotion methamphetamine manufacture; two years supervised probation, court costs, $250 fine.

    Cameron Lee Jones- reckless endangerment; two years supervised probation, court costs.

    Amanda Isner- attempted robbery; two years supervised probation, court costs, $10 fine, must complete an alcohol and drug assessment and follow all recommendations.

  • The new alternative school nears completion

     Progress continues on the county’s new alternative school at East LaFollette.

  • Wayne Kitts to resign council seat

     LaFollette City Council member Wayne Kitts will resign his seat to seek a higher office. At the city council meeting last Monday, Kitts expressed his intention to run for mayor.

  • Work continues on sports complex at East LaFollette

     The Volunteer Football Conference waits for a home field as progress continues on the sports complex at East LaFollette. 

    Representatives from the VFC originally asked the LaFollette City Council to approve building the sports complex because they didn’t have a home field.
