  • Lady Cougars avenge earlier loss to Gap, 11-10

After being beaten by Cumberland Gap earlier this season, the Campbell County High School softball team returned the favor Friday afternoon at Arlis Chapman Field.

The Lady Cougars pulled out an 11-10 victory by making the plays they didn’t make during a run-rule loss last month. Latosha Carroll, a junior who has pitched all three of Campbell County’s wins this season, went the distance and struck out five batters in the most recent meeting of the two teams.

“I thought we showed a little more cool,” said Ron Lasley, coach of the Lady Cougars.

  • Cougars win two in Kentucky tournament

It’s a classic case of “better late than never” for the Campbell County High School varsity baseball team, which has won four of its last four games this year after starting the season 0-15.

The Cougars finally beat Cumberland Gap last weekend after getting the Panthers on a neutral field during a tournament at Bell County, Ky.
