    Sprinkles, candies and crushed cookies are a child’s dream. But in this case it’s the realization of an adult’s dream.

    On March 14, Laura and Ron Morse opened the Sugar Shack in Jacksboro.

    With eight flavors of hard dipped ice cream and eight flavor burst soft serve flavors to choose from, the Sugar Shack has plenty choices to choose from.

    The shop also serves milk shakes, sundaes, banana splits and many more, according to Laura Morse.

  • Mixed martial arts fight to be held on March 28

    He may be new in town, but fight promoter Charles Headley isn’t new to the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA.)

    With 10 years experience as a promoter and 20 years in MMA, Headley is bringing the fast growing sport to Campbell County.

    Headley plans to hold the first fight of the year on March 28 in the National Guard Armory located at 301 Industrial Parkway in Jacksboro.

  • Recovery is celebrated at awareness breakfast

  • Relay fundraisers slated for April

      So many events, so little time.

    First Volunteer Bank is raising the bar on fundraisers to benefit Relay for Life this year. With the successful conclusion of the Prom and Bridal Show, the First Volunteer Relay team is already planning its next community fundraiser.

    On April 4, the Relay team will be hosting a rummage sale at the LaFollette branch of First Volunteer. The event will start at 8 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m.

  • Fashion show for Relay slated for April 2

    Fashion will be on display at the LaFollette Middle School fashion show next weekend. The evening will be filled with food, fun and fashion as designs from the Silk Purse clothing store in Knoxville are modeled and available for purchase. In addition to food and fun, door prizes and a silent auction will be available at the April 2 event.

    Judy Gardner, of the Silk Purse, will be sharing her expertise on the latest fashions at the event.

  • Bluegrass breakdown to be hosted this weekend

    For the eighth year, CASA of Campbell County is hosting its Bluegrass Breakdown and is planning to have better sound, great music and a long list of fantastic auction items.

    On March 28, at 6 p.m. in the Campbell County High School auditorium, three groups will be performing bluegrass favorites.

  • Use of debit card nets fraud charges

    The investigation of the alleged theft of a debit card resulted in the arrest of Amber Leann Etters, 20, LaFollette.

    With seven counts of forgery and seven counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, Etters was consciously spending money that was not hers, explained sheriff’s department Detective Jamie Hall.

  • Property recovered from two burglarized lake homes

    Two men have been arrested for the alleged burglary of two lake homes reported in February.

    On March 19, Justin K. Johnson, 19, and Jason D. Owens, 19, both of LaFollette, were arrested in a string of burglaries in the Ivey Hollow Lake home community.

    Johnson and Owens made forced entry into two houses and took big screen televisions from each residence, said Campbell County Sheriff Gary Perkins.
