Making a second attempt at not serving his sentence straight through, Robert Kennedy asked the court on Monday to allow him work release for last 30 days of his 90-day confinement.

Kennedy was sentenced to the 90-day stretch after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide in death of his stepdaughter Brittany Gardner.

Earlier this month, Kennedy appeared in court asking he be allowed to serve his time on weekends only. He had a job where he was needed, Kennedy testified.

A LaFollette woman has resolved her pending criminal case by pleading no contest to charges she harmed her child.

Carol Longmire entered the plea in court on Monday that essentially said she was not admitting guilt but was not contesting the charge.

Initially charged with child abuse and neglect, Longmire’s charge was reduced to assault by offensive touching, the plea form said.

Despite opposition to proposed changes in LaFollette’s nepotism policy, the revisions passed when the mayor broke a tie vote.

 “I don’t know what the nepotism law would benefit and how it would benefit the citizens by allowing the hiring (of council and mayor relatives),” said Councilman Bob Fannon.

Fannon, who has vehemently spoke against the policy since it was first brought up, went on to state in his business the highest area of conflict is where immediate relatives are located under department heads.
