  • LaFollette City Council approves Sports Complex at East LaFollette

    Cheers filled LaFollette city hall last Wednesday night. The crowd was responding to the LaFollette City Council approving $64,000 for work on a sports complex.

    “People, enjoy your ball field,” Mayor Mike Stanfield said.

    Members of the Volunteer Football Conference who attended the meeting were delighted.

    “This is a great thing for our kids,” VFC Vice President Brent Lester said. “Back when I played, we had to borrow a field. Now we got a home. Hope it will grow the program.”

  • Youth rally will emphasis service

    In just a few weeks the youth of Campbell County will come together for a weekend of work and worship.

    DNow 2012 is being hosted by Indiana Avenue Baptist Church and sponsored by the Campbell County Youth Leader Alliance March 23 and 24.

    “This is the biggest thing we have ever done. We have 12 churches coming together,” said Joey St. John, youth minister at the LaFollette Church of God.

  • News Notes for week of March 15, 2012

    The Campbell County Historical Society will meet March 15 at 7 p.m. at the Historic Wedding Chapel. Guest speaker, Maggie Inscho, will be discussing the Children’s Center of Campbell County.
    The LaFollette Medical Center will be hosting the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce Networking Coffee on March 15, at 8:30 a.m., at the outpatient rehabilitation center, 2146 Jacksboro Pike, Suite A, LaFollette (in the Castleton’s Building). All chamber members and prospective members are invited to attend.

  • CASA hosting concert

    As the weekend approaches, staff at CASA are making final preparations for its largest fundraiser.

    The Bluegrass Breakdown is Saturday. The money raised at the annual event helps offset the cost of the agency that advocates for abused and neglected children.

    Last year the event raised $10,000, according to Christine O’Dell, administrative assistant for CASA.
