Appearing in criminal court Monday Rodney Brooks entered a not guilty plea in the shooting of 24-year-old Anthony Potter.
Potter is the son of Brooks’ one time girlfriend, LaFollette Police said shortly after the shooting last year.
Last month, a grand jury indicted Brooks for attempted second-degree murder in the case.
Showing up in court Monday shackled, Brooks entered his plea garnering the public defender’s office as his legal counsel.
After a brief discussion, it was indicated Brooks wanted to bypass any talks of a plea agreement.
