Three Campbell County High School football players have been invited to play in the National Guard Kentucky-Tennessee Border Bowl.

Tyler Albright and twin brothers Phillip and Stephen Wells were chosen to represent Tennessee in the all-star game, which will be played Saturday, Jan. 17 at James H. Taylor II Stadium on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Tickets are $6.

Albright made the all-star team as a running back, while Phillip Wells was selected as a defensive back and Stephen Wells as a receiver.

A Caryville couple has pled guilty to narcotics and endangerment charges resolving their lengthy court cases.

Last week, April Roberts agreed she was guilty of two counts of reckless endangerment, simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance. She was placed on three years probation, assessed court costs, and fined $250, the agreements said. Roberts must also pay a $1,000 forfeiture.

When Frank Keathley appeared in criminal court for sentencing in November, his case encountered a delay.

A drug screen had indicated Keathley had trace evidence of narcotics use in his system, court testimony revealed. This prompted Judge Shayne Sexton to postpone Keathley’s sentencing for a drug conviction pending a more comprehensive screen.

“If I see any signs of methamphetamine use you will pay with the revocation of your bail,” Sexton warned.

The Jacksboro Police Department is continuing a holiday tradition – shopping. However, officers are not shopping for themselves.

Officers with the JPD are in the process of collecting funds to provide underprivileged children with the opportunity to “shop with a cop,” JPD Chief Danny Chapman said.

It is the tenth year the department has sponsored the event.

Obtaining names of children from school guidance counselors, the JPD raises money to allow each child to spend $75 at Wal- Mart.
