  • Drug arrests keep officers busy



    Reports of a man sleeping in his vehicle led to an arrest early Sunday morning.

    LaFollette Police Sgt. Jason Marlow went to the Midway Car Wash to investigate reports of a male who was allegedly slumped over the steering wheel of his car.

    According to Marlow's report, he could easily see through the passenger side window that Jerry W. Hutson, II, 28, of 408 Myers Street, Jacksboro, allegedly had a pill bottle in his right hand and some white pills in his left had.

  • Arrest made in boat burglaries; warrant issued

       The art of being inconspicuous escaped Joseph K. Harp.

    On Tuesday around 4 a.m. Campbell County Sheriff's Deputies Cody Chapman and Jimmie Albertini went to Anchor Marine to look into reports of suspicious activity in the area.

    As Chapman was sitting in his patrol car watching he allegedly saw a male jump into a car and leave the scene.

  • Aviation camp slated for June




    Visions of summer camp likely include rustic cabins, crafting leather belts and catching a raging case of poison ivy. But Mid-Heaven Missions Aviation Camp isn't the average summer camp.

    For the second year the Jacksboro Airport will open its facilities to the ministry that is based at Second Baptist Church Clinton.

    The Campbell County High School Band will present its36th Annual Spring Concert May 5 at 7p.m. in the high school auditorium. The admission charge will be $4 for adults and $2 for students. Middle school band students wearing their band t-shirts will be admitted free. All proceeds go to support the CCHS Band. 


    The regular meeting of the Caryville Municipal Planning Commission will be held at 6 p.m. on May 5 in the Caryville City Hall.

  • Relay for Life events

    The LaFollette Press and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will host the annual Relay for Life Fish Fry on May 5 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., the cost is $10, fried fish, French fries, drinks include, dessert extra.  Tickets available at the door, or at the LaFollette Press front office. 


    Relay for Life will be held May 6 at Jacksboro Middle School.

    God will provide our weapons


    We have a great grandson who will be two years old soon. What a delight he is to all of the family members. Of course we are all at his beck and call when he is around. He has been in no hurry to talk because we all know what he wants or does not want by his actions and mannerisms. Lately we have found out he has many words stored up he just hasn’t chose to use them. He is a man of few words.
