  • ATV outing ends in tragedy

    An ATV accident has left four people severely injured and one person dead.

    Just after 8 p.m Monday emergency crews were dispatched to 4211 Cedar Creek Road in response to a call a Gator ATV had rolled over, according to 911 records.

    “It was total chaos,” said LaFollette Rescue Squad (LRS) Communications Director Durand Carmany of the scene when he and other LRS members arrived.

    By the time the LRS reached the scene, one person, a boy estimated to around 6 –years- old had already been removed from the scene, Carmany said.

  • Louie Bluie Festival a success

    Music mixed with the sounds of laughter created a symphony that Howard Armstrong would have been proud of at this year’s Louie Bluie Music and Arts Festival.

    Festival organizers went all out for this year’s festival, booking well-known musical talent, both local and regional.  There was an outstanding number of local artists, which entered into the juried art and quilt contest, and even more arts and crafts vendors at previous festivals.   

  • Lake crash injures four

    Just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, two boats collided near Indian River Marina.

    The impact was so great, one boat began taking on water and nearly sank.

    “There was a big chunk broke off,” said Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agent Ken Cuttsinger of a 19-foot deck boat involved in the accident.

  • Siler racks up narcotics charges

    Reports of a domestic assault led to new narcotics charges for Jenny Siler.

    Siler currently has a case in front of the state appellate court. In the appeal she has asked the justices to overturn a jail sentence given to her for narcotics possession, which she pled guilty to.

    But on Sunday she acquired similar charges when LaFollette Police Officers William Owens and Rick Ford responded to a domestic situation in the parking lot of a local gas station.

    LaFollette Fire Department personnel notified officers a man was assaulting a woman near the IGA grocery store.
