    LaFollette Press:

    I want to thank Susan Sharp for the very timely article in the Press on March 3, “Mistakes today will shape a child’s tomorrow.”

    There is nothing more delicate or more helpless than a child. Especially if they aren’t cared for and protected by their mother or a very caring person. If they spend their life being neglected, abused or worse, they most often will think this is how it is supposed to be. Doesn’t give them much of a plan for their life- children often imitate what they see.

    I sit, mouth wide open, heart wrenching, tears trailing down my cheek after reading your story regarding the abused toddler Peyton Douglas What a horrific world we live in that breeds such inhumane members as those "parents" admittedly responsible for this heinous crime, as well as those responsible for their sentencing.... six and 10 years respectively with only 30 percent to serve and credit for time already served.  Are you kidding me?

    I am looking for the parents and siblings of Ida Wright Goans. Ida was born and married in Anderson County to James Goans, came to LaFollette in early 1900, divorced in 1913 but stayed here until 1925. Who were her parents?     I live in LaFollette, I am so pleased of how wonderful is the library service in my town and I would like to share with you my experience.

    Due to my training as a physician I have lived in different states and I make sure I always have a library card. From my first day at LaFollette library I was deeply impressed of the outstanding service Nancy Green provides to every person who comes to the library.

    I would like to express how grateful and what it meant to me to see in The LaFollette Press that Jesus is the reason for the season. The poem, Twas the Night before Jesus, is so true and a blessing. Most stores you go in cannot say Merry Christmas. I’m so glad for boldness of people who will stand up and tell others, Christ is Christmas. So thank you again for wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
