    LaFollette Press,

  • Citizen supports efforts

    Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

Hello, My name is Fatima Marie Atabey. I am writing you today on behalf of two courageous young men that have started a program called HateMeth.com.
They have a need for funding in a rural community. It requires ten arces of land to build an amusement park and an educational activity center. It is for the prevention and clean up of Crystal Meth here in Campbell and Claiborne Counties and Tennessee. I now live in what is commonly referred to as the Meth Capital of the United States, LaFollette.

  • Shriners thank

    Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

The Campbell County Shrine Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who donated items for our auction and spaghetti dinner March 25 at the Campbell County High School. We want to thank all the local merchants that donated over 70 items for the auction.

  • Letters to the Editor March 24, 2011

    Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

I recently had car trouble and went to a local car dealership to have my car scanned. I paid $79 plus tax to have my car scanned for an hour and was then told that I needed two small parts and the throttle body cleaned.

Their estimate to do this work was $657. They also attempted to add an additional “miscellaneous charge” for the scan, but I avoided having to pay this. I suppose this was the “female walking into a car dealership by herself” charge.

      Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

I want to thank Susan Sharp for the very timely article in the Press on March 3, “Mistakes today will shape a child’s tomorrow.”

There is nothing more delicate or more helpless than a child. Especially if they aren’t cared for and protected by their mother or a very caring person. If they spend their life being neglected, abused or worse, they most often will think this is how it is supposed to be. Doesn’t give them much of a plan for their life- children often imitate what they see.

     Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

I sit, mouth wide open, heart wrenching, tears trailing down my cheek after reading your story regarding the abused toddler Peyton Douglas What a horrific world we live in that breeds such inhumane members as those "parents" admittedly responsible for this heinous crime, as well as those responsible for their sentencing.... six and 10 years respectively with only 30 percent to serve and credit for time already served.  Are you kidding me?

  • Letters to the Editor Feb. 24, 2011

     Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

I am looking for the parents and siblings of Ida Wright Goans. Ida was born and married in Anderson County to James Goans, came to LaFollette in early 1900, divorced in 1913 but stayed here until 1925. Who were her parents? Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Please contact me at (865)436-4536 or email GRConnor@aol.com.

     Editor,

    LaFollette Press:

I am so proud of Toby Young and Jonathan LuAllen for taking action. Shame on you Mr. Business Owner; shame on you public officials; shame on you Mr. Lawyer; shame on you church leaders; shame on every member of this community who could have given but did not.
